Funafuti Conservation Area
Tuvalu · Tuvalu
The Funafuti Conservation Area protects 33,000 hectares of lagoon, reef, and ocean around the main atoll, with diving that ranges from calm sandy lagoon slopes to dramatic outer wall drop-offs plunging into the deep Pacific. Encounters with sea turtles, eagle rays, and large schools of snapper are routine, and the near-complete absence of dive tourism means these reefs have recovered strongly from historical bleaching events.
