Coki Beach
US Virgin Islands · United States Virgin Islands
Coki Beach on St. Thomas is the USVI's most accessible shore dive, where a gently sloping reef begins just metres from the sand and teems with the kind of thick, colourful fish life that surprises first-time Caribbean divers. Sergeant majors cloud every coral head in shimmering yellow-and-black columns, while queen parrotfish and blue tangs graze in open view, unperturbed by the steady stream of snorkellers above. The site rewards slower divers who linger on rubble patches, where octopus, flamingo tongue cowries, and reef squid congregate in plain sight.
