Punta Pirámide Penguin Dive
Valdés Peninsula · Argentina
The small town of Puerto Pirámides sits at the heart of the peninsula's dive scene, and the rocky reef directly off Punta Pirámide is the best shore dive on the peninsula. Magellanic penguins nest in burrows in the cliffs above and forage underwater just metres away — they descend to 30 m on a single breath and are visibly curious. In summer, sea lion pups learning to swim congregate in the shallows, creating an underwater nursery.
