Ten Mile Point
Vancouver Island / Victoria · Canada
Ten Mile Point juts into Haro Strait near Cadboro Bay, creating a rocky headland with exceptional wall diving down to 30 m. The walls are draped in cloud sponge, boot sponge, and dense colonies of orange cup coral — species normally found much deeper on the open coast. Giant Pacific octopus are resident year-round and wolf eels occupy dens in the boulder fields at depth. Currents running along the point bring cold upwelled water and push visibility above 15 m in winter. Advanced divers use the outgoing tide for a controlled drift along the kelp wall.
