Million Dollar Point
Espiritu Santo · Vanuatu
At the end of WW2, the US military dumped millions of dollars worth of equipment — jeeps, bulldozers, forklifts, and ammunition — into the shallows rather than sell it cheaply to local communities. Today this extraordinary artificial reef descends to 30 meters in a cascade of corroding machinery completely encrusted with hard and soft corals, creating one of the Pacific's most surreal dive experiences.
