General Guadalupe Victoria Wreck
Veracruz Reef System · Mexico
The General Guadalupe Victoria is a Mexican naval patrol vessel sunk in the 1930s, now resting on its side at 18 to 22 meters on a sandy bottom between inner reefs. The hull is substantially intact and encrusted with sponges, tube worms, and soft corals in vivid oranges and purples. Large moray eels occupy the bow section, shoals of French grunt pack the midship holds, and lionfish have established territories throughout the superstructure. Hawksbill turtles occasionally visit the wreck. The site sits in the inner park zone with typically moderate visibility, and the wreck itself creates a sheltered microhabitat rich in invertebrate life.
