Cardigan Bay
Wales (Pembrokeshire) · United Kingdom
Cardigan Bay is the largest bay in Wales and holds Europe's largest resident population of bottlenose dolphins — over 300 individuals that inhabit the bay year-round and regularly approach dive boats and snorkellers in the sheltered inshore waters. The seagrass meadows, sandy banks, and rocky headlands of the bay's interior create diverse habitat for seahorses, thornback rays, and juvenile fish nurseries. Diving here is gentler than the open Atlantic sites and offers exceptional marine mammal interaction in waters accessible to all certification levels.
