Honikulu Pass
Wallis Island · France
Honikulu is the main navigable pass through the barrier reef encircling Wallis, and tidal exchanges here drive exceptional marine aggregations. Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks congregate in the channel, manta rays glide through on plankton-rich currents, and large schools of barracuda circle above the coral-covered walls of the pass. An incoming tide pushes divers smoothly from the open ocean into the lagoon in a gentle drift.
