Mata Utu Coral Garden
Wallis Island · France
Directly in front of the capital Mata Utu, the lagoon hosts a diverse coral garden from 5 to 20 metres with exceptional hard coral coverage across multiple species of Acropora, Porites, and massive Pavona colonies. The site is the most accessible in Wallis and suits all experience levels. Blacktip reef sharks are seen on virtually every dive, and the coral heads shelter a dense community of reef fish including moorish idols, triggerfish, and lionfish.
