Watamu Marine Park Wall
Watamu Marine Park · Kenya
A sweeping vertical wall inside the Watamu Marine National Park that plunges from 6 m to beyond 30 m, carpeted in bright sea fans and sponges the colour of turmeric and crimson. Green turtles glide along the wall face with slow, deliberate wingbeats, and moray eels peer from crevices at eye level. The protected status means fish life here is noticeably bolder and denser than outside the park boundary. Whitetip reef sharks patrol the base of the wall in the early morning, and at depth enormous bumphead parrotfish graze in tight formation. This is a dive that stays with you.
