Scuba Season
Underwater at Beluga Bay

Beluga Bay

White Sea · Russia

The signature White Sea experience — belugas congregate in shallow sheltered bays near the Karelian coast in summer, approaching divers with open curiosity. The whales are accustomed to the research vessels that have worked here for decades. In winter the same bay freezes solid and ice-diving through a hole reveals ice formations backlit by faint polar light, with the ghostly shapes of belugas passing beneath.
