Cleft Island
Wilsons Promontory · Australia
Granite island dive site featuring massive 8 metre high granite boulders on a 20 metre deep reef. Huge swim throughs, overhangs and sea caves at shallow depths transition to spectacular deep sponge gardens at 20 to 30 metres depth. Colourful gardens of giant sponges, jewel anemones, ascidians and yellow zoanthids cover underwater caves and ledges. Also known as Skull Rock due to its distinctive cranium shape when viewed from certain angles.
