Scuba Season
Underwater at Goofnuw Channel

Goofnuw Channel

Yap · Micronesia

Goofnuw Channel is Yap's second major manta cleaning station and often less crowded than Mil Channel, making it a favourite for photographers who want more space around the cleaning heads. The channel runs between two reef structures with a sandy trough at around 15 metres where mantas circle in the current. The outer walls drop sharply and attract eagle rays, large napoleon wrasse, and occasional hammerhead sharks during the cooler months from December through March.
