Tioman Island Outer Reefs
Malaysia · Southeast Asia
The exposed outer reefs and deep pinnacles on Tioman's eastern and southern flanks draw a different calibre of marine life than the sheltered bays — seasonal whale shark aggregations, patrolling tiger sharks, rainbow schools of fusiliers and batfish, and the rusting remains of Japanese vessels sunk during the Second World War. Conditions are sharper here, with stronger currents and bigger blue-water vistas, rewarding divers who venture beyond the marine park's sheltered core.
