Shark Point Addu
Addu Atoll · Maldives
Shark Point Addu is the most exposed and current-swept dive site in the atoll — a coral promontory that juts into the channel between the outer reef and the atoll lagoon, creating the strong upwellings and nutrient concentrations that attract multiple shark species simultaneously. Grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and occasional hammerheads cruise the point in the productive November to April season, while schools of barracuda and rainbow runners form silver curtains in the blue. The site's remote position on Addu's southern outer reef has kept it largely undiscovered by the Maldivian live-aboard circuit, and diver numbers are a fraction of the famous shark sites in North and South Male Atoll.
