Grey reef sharks cruise the wall edge throughout the year, using the drop-off as a patrol boundary for their territorial ranges. They are most active on incoming tides when prey fish concentrate around the reef crest, and groups of 3 to 8 individuals are regularly observed making passes at depth. The population at Yoro Reef appears to be resident rather than transient, with individually recognisable animals returning across seasons.

Grey Reef Shark is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
