Territorial adults of up to 1.2 metres hold court under ledges at 15 to 25 metres, often tolerating close approach by divers. As protogynous hermaphrodites, the largest fish at Kemer are all converted females that have become dominant males. Their deep, resonant territorial calls are sometimes audible underwater during the summer spawning season.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
