Schools of up to 50 barracuda suspend in the current at Kemer's reef edge, their silver flanks catching the light as they rotate slowly into the flow. Juveniles inhabit the shallower inshore zones while large adults congregate at depth where prey is more abundant. Their presence indicates an active pelagic food chain operating at the reef's interface with open water.
