Green morays up to 1.8 metres in length occupy the lower cargo holds and engine room of the Andes, emerging at dusk to hunt across the wreck and surrounding sand. Their muscular bodies and impressive gape make them apex ambush predators within the wreck ecosystem, controlling populations of smaller fish that shelter in the hull's cavities. Resident morays at this site have become accustomed to divers and often rest in full view at the hold entrances.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
