Turtle Point

Apo Island · Philippines

Turtle Point on the northwestern slope of Apo Island is the most reliably turtle-dense site in the Philippines and among the highest-density green turtle aggregation sites in Southeast Asia. The reef here is shallow and gently shelving, with dense staghorn and plate coral gardens extending from 3 meters down to about 18 meters before transitioning to a sandy slope. Multiple turtle cleaning stations are active simultaneously — sometimes three or four turtles queue at a single bommie while cleaner wrasse and cleaner shrimp work their way across shells and flippers. Even the most distracted diver regularly counts eight to fifteen turtles in a single dive.
