Black durgeon triggerfish aggregate around the Stavronikita's mast and rigging in schools of up to several hundred individuals, a behavior linked to their planktivorous feeding habit: they position themselves in the mild current running past the vertical structure to intercept zooplankton. Unlike many triggerfish they are non-territorial around divers and the dense schools are a defining visual feature of the dive.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
