Constellation & Montana Wrecks
Bermuda · Bermuda
Two wrecks resting virtually side-by-side in 10 metres of water on the North Shore reef line, the Constellation and Montana became world famous when Peter Benchley used them as inspiration for the film The Deep and his novel of the same name — cases of morphine still visible among the Constellation's scattered cargo remain one of diving's most extraordinary archaeological spectacles. The vessels sit in gin-clear water on a sandy plain, their scattered remains colonised by brain corals and sea fans, with dense populations of blue-striped grunt sheltering in every cavity. The dual-wreck nature of the site, combined with Bermuda's exceptional visibility, makes this a single dive that rewards an entire half-day of exploration.
