Whitetip reef sharks rest in small groups on sandy ledges along Bay Canh Wall during the day, their metabolic efficiency allowing extended resting periods before nocturnal hunting activity begins. At night they actively pursue fish into coral crevices using flexible body undulation — a hunting strategy unique to whitetips among reef sharks that allows access to prey sheltering in spaces too narrow for less flexible species. Their predictable daytime resting behavior on known ledge locations makes Bay Canh Wall one of Vietnam's most reliable large shark encounters.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
