Horse-eye jacks form large, fast-moving schools around seamounts and pinnacles where upwelling currents concentrate prey. They are visual hunters, using their large eyes — proportionally among the biggest of any jack species — to track small fish and squid in low-light conditions. Schools at The Pinnacle can number in the hundreds and circle continuously, creating a hypnotic silver vortex around the summit.
