Mérou Valley
Corsica · France
A submerged granite canyon off southern Corsica's Bonifacio coast, Mérou Valley (Vallée des Mérous) is named for the extraordinary aggregations of dusky grouper that haunt its boulder-strewn floor. Enormous individuals over a metre long rest in plain sight among kelp-draped boulders, utterly unperturbed by divers. This is arguably the finest grouper dive in the entire Mediterranean, with up to a dozen large adults visible in a single pass.
