San Miguel Bay Drop-Off
Donsol · Philippines
San Miguel Bay's outer reef edge plunges into a dramatic wall draped with gorgonian sea fans and black coral trees that attract schooling hammerheads from November through February. The deep blue water column is reliably patrolled by dogtooth tuna and rainbow runners while the wall itself is encrusted with soft corals in saturated purples and oranges. Night dives here reveal sleeping sea turtles, Spanish dancer nudibranchs, and octopus on the hunt across the wall's intricate topography.
