Hawksbill turtles visit the wreck to feed on the sponges and soft corals that colonise the superstructure, using their narrow pointed beaks to extract prey from tight crevices in the hull. Gulf populations are considered critically important for regional conservation as they breed on nearby Oman beaches and forage across the wider Arabian Sea. Individual turtles have been photographed returning to this wreck repeatedly over multiple years, suggesting strong site fidelity.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
