Commonly found gripping the stems of gorgonian sea fans and sparse seagrass patches along the reef's shallower margins. Pairs often remain in the same territory for months, making repeat diver sightings reliable. They feed on tiny crustaceans using their pipette-like snouts, hovering almost perfectly still between strikes.
