Los Lobos — El Muelle Reef

Dive site

El Muelle is the most accessible entry point on Los Lobos Island, launching from the small jetty on the island's sheltered east side into a volcanic reef shelf at 5 to 18 m. The reef is carpeted in sea grass and coralline algae, providing feeding and resting habitat for loggerhead turtles that graze the meadows year-round. Atlantic angel sharks rest in the sandy corridors between basalt ridges; octopus occupy every crevice in the rocky section. The calm, clear conditions make El Muelle the entry-level dive on Los Lobos and a strong night dive as well — octopus, moray eels, and sleeping parrotfish become approachable after dark.
