Los Lobos — El Puertito Channel

Dive site

The narrow channel between Los Lobos Island and Fuerteventura's Cotillo coast funnels the Canary Current into a 2 km wide race that produces sustained drift diving conditions with visibility regularly reaching 30 m. Schools of jack, scad, and bream circulate in the water column above a basalt reef at 12 to 25 m; Atlantic angel sharks occupy the sandy bottom on the Los Lobos side while the Fuerteventura slope hosts large stingrays. Seasonal highlights include spinner dolphin pods that use the channel as a resting corridor in summer, occasionally approaching divers in the open water section.
