Los Lobos — La Baja del Ganado
Dive site
La Baja del Ganado is a submerged volcanic shelf on Los Lobos' southern tip, exposed to the open Atlantic channel and swept by the Canary Current that flows between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The reef drops from 8 m over the shelf to a sandy bottom at 28 m, with massive basalt boulders providing structure for schooling fish, resident large groupers, and passing pelagics. Devil rays appear between April and October, often in groups of 5 to 15 individuals circling the shelf edge. Barracuda schools numbering in the hundreds hold position in the current at 15 to 20 m, providing one of the most dramatic fish encounters in the Canary Islands.
