Carnota Wreck
Galicia · Spain
The Carnota Wreck is a mid-sized cargo vessel that sank in relatively shallow water off the Costa da Morte — Galicia's wild 'Coast of Death', where Atlantic storms have claimed hundreds of ships over the centuries. The hull, now encrusted with plumose anemones, deadman's fingers, and purple sea urchins, lies on a sand and gravel bottom at 28 m and is accessible to recreational divers. Schools of pollack and saithe hover above the superstructure while velvet swimming crabs and edible crabs patrol every surface — a thoroughly Atlantic cold-water wreck experience.
