Schools of hundreds of bigeye jacks orbit La India's pinnacle in tight, synchronized balls that compress and expand in response to predators below. These apex-adjacent predators feed on smaller schooling fish at dawn and dusk, making early-morning dives the most dramatic. Their affinity for structure makes La India one of the most reliably productive schooling-fish dives on Oaxaca's coast.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
