Es Vedrà's north-facing walls and overhangs below 20 m host dense gorgonian forests that filter the nutrient-rich currents sweeping past the exposed rock. Yellow and white fans span up to a metre across on the more sheltered cliff faces. These colonial animals take decades to reach maturity and their abundance here reflects both the site's strong current and its relative protection from anchor damage.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
