Es Vedrà
Ibiza and Formentera · Spain
A mythic limestone pinnacle rising 382 m from the sea off Ibiza's southwest coast, Es Vedrà plunges below the surface through a sequence of deep reefs, walls, and caverns draped in gorgonians. Schools of barracuda and dentex hold station in the open water around the rock while the walls descend through posidonia meadows into darkness. The island's protected status as a nature reserve extends underwater, giving the site a sense of genuine wildness.
