Flamingo Tongue

Sighting evidence at Bar Reef, Inhambane

Flatworm and nudibranch diversity at Bar Reef rivals that of dedicated muck dive destinations, with over 40 species recorded including the spectacular Spanish Dancer, Chromodoris annae, and multiple Phyllidiidae species. Night dives transform the reef as hunting nudibranchs become active and their chemical defences — toxic skin secretions derived from the sponges they eat — are on full display through vivid warning colouration. The site's depth profile and lack of strong current make it an ideal night dive for all certification levels.

How is this calculated?
