One of the reef's apex invertebrate predators, titan triggerfish excavate coral rubble with powerful teeth to expose urchins and molluscs beneath. They nest in sand patches and defend their territory aggressively during spawning season, but outside nesting periods are inquisitive and approachable. The warm current discharge concentrates them in numbers rarely seen at other Taiwanese sites.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
