Green turtles are the most reliably encountered large animal at Hiroshi Point, where individual animals have been observed returning to the same coral head resting spots across multiple dive seasons. The site's dense seagrass beds in the sandy areas between coral formations provide a grazing resource that keeps turtles resident rather than just passing through. Juveniles and sub-adults are present alongside adults, indicating successful local recruitment and a protected population trajectory.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
