Bigeye trevally form dense tornados of hundreds of individuals above Shark Island's summit, a defensive balling behaviour triggered by the presence of the grey reef sharks circling below. The interaction between the trevally school and the resident shark population creates a dynamic, constantly shifting underwater theatre that plays out on virtually every dive. At the end of the dive, ascending through the swirling silver column of trevally with the sunlit surface above is one of Kosrae's defining underwater memories.
