Los Órganos
La Gomera · Spain
Los Órganos is one of the Atlantic's most dramatic geological spectacles — a vertical cliff of thousands of hexagonal basalt columns, resembling a colossal pipe organ, that continues unbroken from the surface down to 40 m. The wall is carpeted with yellow and orange gorgonian fans, black coral bushes, and encrusting sponges, while large shoals of bream and damselfish hover in the surge zone. Angel sharks rest on the sandy floor at the base of the cliff, and occasional hammerheads are reported on deeper dives.
