Black Coral
Antipathella wollastoni
Sighting evidence at Los Órganos, La Gomera
Canary Islands black coral forms large bushy colonies on the deeper sections of the Los Órganos wall from around 20 m downward. These slow-growing colonies can be centuries old and provide structural habitat for invertebrates and juvenile fish sheltering within their branches.
