El Bajón
Lanzarote · Spain
A steep volcanic wall drop-off on Lanzarote's southwest coast, descending from 10 m to beyond 40 m. The wall face is densely encrusted with black coral trees, sea fans, and sponge colonies at depth, while the shallower terrace holds moray eels and resting rays. Atlantic upwelling on this exposed coast means water temperature is 2 to 3 degrees cooler than the east side, but that cold nutrient stream draws large pelagics: rays, occasional angel sharks, and passing amberjack schools. A genuine wall dive with a 5 m safety stop terrace conveniently positioned at 5 m.
