Marigondon Cave
Mactan Island · Philippines
One of the most distinctive dives in the Visayas, Marigondon Cave is a wide submerged cavern opening at 24 m on the outer slope of the Marigondon channel wall, passable without penetration training from a large chamber that floods with ambient light through the entrance. The cavern ceiling is colonised by wire coral and sponges, and glassfish fill the interior in shimmering clouds, attracting jacks and groupers that dart through them. The outer wall above the cave entrance is draped in sea fans and hosts lobster, moray eels, and sleeping nurse sharks, making the dive a compelling combination of cavern ambiance and reef diversity.
