Secondary to the hammerheads as a draw but reported regularly by operators, thresher sharks occasionally visit Kimud Shoal in early morning hours — possibly animals that have already completed their Monad Shoal cleaning station visit and are transiting south. The sightings here tend to be deeper and more fleeting than at Monad, making Kimud a bonus encounter rather than a guaranteed one.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
