Mediterranean Seahorse

The sandy rubble and algae beds surrounding the main wreck structure harbour resident seahorses that anchor in the mixed debris and weed fringing the hull. Dive guides familiar with the site can reliably locate individuals and mated pairs that have been observed returning to the same anchor points across seasons. They are best searched for in the final 15 minutes of a dive when depth allows a slow, patient scan of the seafloor at 12 to 16 metres.

Mediterranean Seahorse is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
