The extensive posidonia meadows at Aquarium Bay provide exactly the anchoring structure and invertebrate prey that long-snouted seahorses require, making this one of the more reliable seahorse sites in the Turkish Aegean. They grip seagrass blades and algae holdfasts with their prehensile tails, remaining motionless until prey drifts within range. Patient divers searching the meadow edge systematically will encounter multiple individuals on most dives.

Mediterranean Seahorse is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
