Resident oceanic mantas at Prony use the pinnacle as a cleaning station year-round, hovering motionless above the summit while wrasse and angelfish remove parasites from their cephalic fins and gill slits. The population includes a mix of black, white, and chevron-patterned individuals that have been photographically identified and tracked over multiple years by local researchers. Manta sightings are recorded on more than 80 percent of dives at Prony, making it one of the most reliable manta aggregations in the western Indian Ocean.
