Whitetip reef sharks rest on the sandy substrate below the cleaning station and on ledges along the reef slope, appearing unhurried even when divers pass close. They become active at dusk, hunting in cooperative groups through coral labyrinths to flush out sheltering fish. Their relaxed daytime behaviour makes them excellent subjects for underwater photography and is a consistent background feature of the manta experience.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
