Whitetip reef sharks rest in small groups on sandy patches at the base of the khor walls during daylight hours, their slender bodies perfectly fitted to the reef's narrow cave entrances. At dusk they become active hunters, pursuing fish through the coral with a persistence that distinguishes them from most other reef sharks. Their presence in a sheltered fjord environment is unusual and may indicate that the khor's tidal mixing produces unusually rich prey density.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
