Green sea turtles are resident at North Reef year-round, grazing on the seagrass and algae patches between coral heads with characteristic methodical sweeping bites. The turtles appear accustomed to divers and allow close observation — particularly at cleaning stations where they hover motionless while wrasse remove parasites from their flippers and neck. Netrani's turtle population nests on the island's beach, and adult females can sometimes be observed at the reef in the weeks preceding the June to August nesting season.

Green Sea Turtle is listed as a curated species here based on historical reports.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
